April Update: Production is back on track!
about 9 years ago – Wed, Apr 19, 2017 at 12:55:36 AM

Hello Backers!

We’ve got great news: the new lid samples are in -- and they’re excellent! We’ve put them through some rigorous testing and are happy to say that the level of quality and functionality is something we’re proud to stand behind; they are now fully leak proof and they feel great to use. Production is back underway and we’re slated to meet the schedule we shared in our last update. Our team is so appreciative of the patience and encouragement you have shown us as we worked through this final design challenge. The production version of Pascal Press has passed all of our quality tests and we’re super excited to get it into your hands!

In the coming weeks, you can expect some more regular updates from us. We’ll be notifying you once the Presses are on their way to Canada, and once again when we’ve received them in our warehouse. We’ll also be sending out a final notification through BackerKit (only applicable to Kickstarter backers) and Indiegogo to make sure you’ve updated us with your correct mailing address.

And finally, we haven’t forgotten about our promise to hook you up with some discounts on specialty coffee. We’ve lined up a few select roasters in Canada, the US, and Australia who will be giving out 25% coupon codes for their beans. We’re just about done working out the final details and we’ll be including these codes in a future update so that you can have some fresh beans to go with your new Press!

Once again, thanks for all of the support you’ve shown us throughout this journey. This has been an incredible experience for the Pascal Press team and we cannot wait to finally share our product with you. As always, feel free to leave a comment or message us if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,

The Pascal Press Team!

Production Update
over 9 years ago – Sun, Feb 12, 2017 at 10:53:54 PM

Hello Backers!

Chinese New Year has come and gone and our manufacturer has resumed production on Pascal Press at full-tilt! Parts are being assembled and Presses are rolling off the line. In our Quality Assurance step however we have discovered an inconsistency with our lids: despite our pre-production samples being leak proof, some selective testing of production lids have shown this to not be the case.

We want to deliver on what we have promised you, the portable coffee press with no compromises, and one of our promises was a leak-proof lid. To that end, we have made the decision to pause production at present and resolve the issue with the lid. We have been working around the clock this week discussing potential solutions with our manufacturers, troubleshooting with the samples and prototyping. Simply put, the issue is that the hardness of the material we chose for the lid requires too precise of a tolerance to make a proper seal; we will rework the moulds with our manufacturer to accept a softer material in order to offer a tighter, leak-proof seal.

What this means for our backers is that we will invariable face a delay. From a conference call we had with our manufactures this evening, we anticipate this work will push back production by 30 days, meaning we will start sending Pascal Press to you by late-April. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this causes anyone and truly hope that you understand why we made our decision.

If this delivery timeline affects your shipping address, you are still able to update your address on backerkit using the following link (https://pascal-press-a-truly-portable-coffee-press.backerkit.com/).

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to write us, we always love reading your messages from all around the world!

Thank you kindly for your continuing support. We’ll be in touch soon.

Best,

-The Pascal Press Team

We’re almost there. In just 48 hours our Kickstarter campaign will be one step closer to bringing Pascal Press to market. Thanks to our early success, we have already started working with our manufacturers to start the tooling process.

We’re thrilled that we’ve gotten this far and that we’ve been able to surpass our first stretch goal. Just a reminder that if you’re interested in receiving our filter pack with your press, add on $4 CAD to your pledge

Help us out one last time by sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you for your continued support,

Stretch Goal Unlocked: Filter Packs!
almost 10 years ago – Thu, Jul 14, 2016 at 03:20:55 PM

We did it! That’s $50,000 in pledges, and our first stretch goal. So — What does this mean for you, our awesome backers?

We will be including a 100 micron filter with each Pascal Press, for free. The smaller filter will let you use finer grounds to brew your coffee for a faster extraction. It will also help to increase the pressure when you press for a coffee more similar to an Americano.

In addition, we will also be offering a pack of assorted filters (1x 100 micron, 1x 200 micron, and 1x 500 micron) which will let you further experiment with your brew. The larger pore size is perfect for those delicate teas and lets you brew a coffee that is more similar to a traditional french press if it is used with coarse ground coffee. If you are interested in having one added to your order, increase your pledge by $4 CAD and we’ll take care of the rest (est. retail value $8 CAD).

Now that we’ve unlocked our first stretch goal, we being the path to coloured grips at $70,000. We’ve already spoken to our manufacturer, and if we’re able to reach this goal, to reward all of you for being such awesome backers, you will be able to choose the colour of your grip for free. We’ve been picking up momentum these past few days, but every ‘like’ and share helps. If you want to choose the colour of your grip, share us with your friends on Facebook and Twitter

Keep being awesome,

The Pascal Press Team

p.s. -- we wanted to give a shout out to another project that's come up on our radar. If you've been playing Pokemon GO anywhere near as much as we have, you'll love this one.

Stretch Goals
almost 10 years ago – Wed, Jul 13, 2016 at 08:24:31 AM

 The Results Are In.

Earlier this week when we reached our funding goal, we sent out a survey to see which stretch goal you'd like to unlock first. Several hundred votes later, we have a decisive winner. Additional filter packs commanded over 75% of the vote, so we will be releasing them once our campaign hits the $50,000 mark.

At the moment, our team is working with our suppliers to negotiate the lowest possible price for you guys. As for out second stretch goal, coloured silicone grips, we will be releasing those once our campaign reaches the $70,000 mark. As we approach that point, we will be releasing another poll to determine which colours you'd like to see.

If you'd like to help us unlock these awesome features faster, share us on Facebook and Twitter!

Have a great weekend!

p.s. -- we wanted to give a shout out to the following two projects for being awesome: Rafino and Unclip. We came across the Rafino before we launched on Kickstarter, and met up with their team to demo Pascal Press. We also got to check out one of their prototypes and can vouch for the difference it makes in your coffee experience.

RAFINO Coffee Sieve - Taste coffee the way it was meant to taste

The Unclip is an equally amazing product for any on-the-go lifestyle. We really like the quality and material choice, and the functionality is superb. Who knows, maybe we can integrate this into Pascal Press someday ;).

UNCLIP - Quick Release Carabiner/Bottle Opener Keychain
