Fulfillment Update!

Hello Backers!
I hope all of our American backers had a great 4th of July full of lots of fireworks and our Canadian backers had wonderful Canada Day/Canada 150 (also with lots of fireworks but no where near the amount that Americans use...they really love their fireworks!). And for our backers not from the US or Canada, I hope you had a great time this past weekend as well!
Fulfillment has begun and units are starting to be sent out! We are still on track for all of the units to be sent out by the end of the week. I had a chance to visit the fulfillment center yesterday and do some spot checking and quality control. Everything is looking excellent and all of the units I tested were perfect! This update is to give a you a sneak peak at your Pascal Presses so you know what to expect when you receive them!
Firstly, all of your units will be shipped in our branded burlap bags! These make a great carrying case for your on-the-go coffee kit. Inside you will find your Pascal Press and a baggy with the instruction manual and filter plates. If you ordered an extra filter pack, you will have another baggy in your shipment.
Before you start using your press, there is a small amount of assembly required. The main seal for the inner cup was put inside the inner cup for shipment. When the seal is dry and not lubricated by the coffee oils, it can make it very difficult to press. I would recommend not putting on the seal until you are ready to brew your first cup! Once you have started brewing, the coffee oils will remain on the seal making the inner cup slide very easily.
You will also need to assemble your filter. When you first take out the flow tube and filter plate, the filter plate seal may come dislodged. Not to worry, just put it back in the groove. Similar to the seal for the inner cup, once you start brewing coffee, the filter seal will become lubricated and everything will start sliding nicely! You can unscrew the filter holder from the flow tube and add in your filter!
Now you are ready to brew your coffee! In my own testing I have found that Pascal Press can be sensitive to lower quality coffee grinders. I have put together a video showing how different grinders can change the force needed to press your coffee, and what to do if you find your press to hard!
After all of that positivity there is one piece of negative news. The printed logo and fill line at the bottom of the cup seems to be scratching off when washed with hot soapy water. We will be embossing a fill line onto the cup for future runs. If your fill line comes off, it might difficult to measure the correct amount of coffee. This won't effect the press too much but if you add in too much coffee, the lid won't sit flush with the cup.
That is all for now! Hopefully you will all be able to enjoy your Pascal Press soon!
Best,
The Pascal Press Team
PS. I know I don't usually share other projects in the updates but I am pretty excited about this next project. If you are a history buff or you are feeling extra patriotic after the 4th of July or Canada 150, you should check out Sabres and Smoke. It is a two-player strategy boardgame that let's you recreate battles from the War of 1812 and decide the fate of North America! It was developed by a teenager in Canada that visited all of the locations that the battles took place to ensure the historical accuracy of the game. I have already backed it and I really want it to get funded so I can play it!
